From idea to bookshelf
The Sailor's Book was first published in Norway 2010. The danish edition followed 2011, and the swedish version was published 2013.
Blue Ocean Media is publishing the book on the norwegian and danish market. Norstedts, the biggest publishing house in Sweden, takes care of the swedish market. We have developed idea and structure, produced text, photo and illustrations, as well as design and production of the book - in other words, taken care of everything from idea to bookshelf. Øyvind Bordal has written most of the text, and Magne Klann is the man behind most photos and illustrations. Our graphical designer, Inger Chamilla Schäffer (Grafikhuset) has designed the book.
16.000 copies in two years
We are happy to have printed 16.000 copies in two years, on a relatively small scandinavian market.
An electronic tablet/screen version of the book was launched march 2013, initially in danish.
Currently we're working on an english version. We're searching for the right english publisher, for cooperation on this major project. If you have ideas or represent an english-speaking publisher with knowledge on the maritime market, please get in touch!
